Sonora wheat is one of the old wheat variety grown in North America it is one of the known Landrace grain of North America.
Sonora seed is back in California farms through the efforts of Monica Spiller the founder of Whole Grain Connection. Sonora is now grown by Ancient Agro with Farmers in California and in Montana.
Sonora wheat is highly adaptable and grows well in drought conditions. In California Sonora is planted in the fall from October to December and harvested in June and in some areas it is planted in Spring.
